The Best Award of AllPosted by Darren Drevik on May 27, 2014 in Letters from Vermont | 0 comments
“It’s always the compliments from people you love that mean so much.”
We received some nice accolades this past two weeks.
TripAdvisor presented us with our fourth consecutive Certificate of Excellence, presented for outstanding reviews given to our little Montgomery Center bed and breakfast by their members during the past 12 months.
BringFido.com gave us its “2014 Fido’s Favorite” award for achieving a perfect 5 out of 5 ranking among the dog-owning customers who visited the Phineas Swann Bed and Breakfast near Jay Peak during the past years.
We’re, of course, pleased. Vermont bed and breakfast reviews are always important. But the best award we received came this morning: Our latest guest checked out and told us they’d had a wonderful time, had appreciated the service, the gourmet breakfast and beautiful room they’d enjoyed during their two-night stay here. Because, really, that’s what it all comes down to, doesn’t it? How good was the experience for our most recent guest?
Everyone who comes here is a new opportunity for Lynne and I. We get a chance to meet someone new, or 20% of the time reconnect with someone who’s been here before. For our newcomers, we get to to tell them the story of why the top of Vermont is the most beautiful, serene and peaceful getaway they’ve ever experienced. We get to watch their face as they take that first bite of our apple waffles, blackberry-stuffed French toast or eggs Benedict. We get to hear their stories, and make new friends.
That’s the best reward of all. Sure, we’ll put the certificates in the window. But we’ll put the memories in our hearts.
