Phineas Swann mentioned in La Presse!

This is a free-flowing translation of a paragraph from an article in Montreal's La Presse, about the reviewer's experience at The Phineas Swann during a ski trip to Jay Peak. It appeared on 2 February, 2008. Here is a link to the full article: La Presse Jay Peak Article and to a .pdf file of the entire English translation. 48 hours at Jay Peak

by Jean-Sebastien Gagnon

...DAY 1 – 5 p.m. To Get There

On paper, it looks easy to get to the Jay Peak area. One hour thirty minutes from Montreal, according to the guide. In fact, with the winding roads, the half-light and snow, we found it to be a bit more; it took us closer to two and a half hours. Our gazebo in winter.

We were warmly welcomed at the Phineas Swann Inn and B&B by the owners, Jay and John. This is no ordinary couple: one was formerly an interior designer, the other a financial analyst, before leaving it all behind to run this Bed and Breakfast, classified by Boston Magazine as "among the most romantic in New England". The incredible number of curios and antiques which furnish the inn are a "must-see", many of which may be available for sale. And everyone will appreciate the quality and comfort of the plush accommodations at this B&B, named after one of the first settlers of the town of Montgomery. ...

For our friends to the north, here is the original paragraph:

... JOUR 1 - S'y rendre

New York Magazine

"Ex–New Yorkers Jay Kerch and John Perkins run the Phineas Swann Country Inn (from $189), a well-kept century-old farmhouse located near the foot of Jay Peak. Wake up to a belt-loosening breakfast of omelettes stuffed with Vermont Cheddar cheese, maple-sugar-battered bacon, and strawberry-preserve crêpes—a recipe John picked up in the South of France. Not charmed by the ghost that allegedly tickles feet in the Red Room? Stay in the Blue Room—it boasts a window seat with perfect views of the mountain and a private bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub."
