Phineas Swann a TV Star on HGTV, GACPosted by Darren Drevik on May 7, 2014 in Letters from Vermont | 0 comments
“Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.”

The Phineas Swann is being featured in an episode of HGTV’s new series “New House, New Life.” The episode will air sometime in June, but tonight we get a sneak peek as the episode airs on HGTV’s sister network, Great American Country (GAC). If you missed it, there will be two more sneak peaks: May 14 at 7:30 p.m. EDT, and May 21 at 8 p.m.
When Lynne and I were first approached about a TV show documenting our search for a Vermont bed and breakfast, we were quite hesitant. The words “reality television” conjures up images of bug-eating and cat fights. Once we learned that the production was to air on HGTV, makers of “House Hunters” and other shows, we felt much better about inviting a TV crew into our small Manhattan flat and along on our search for a new home and business.
Along the way, we met a lot of great people during the filming. They included other innkeepers, the great folks at Raven Ridge Farm and many of our old and new neighbors and friends. We got to show the film crew why we fell in love with the Phineas Swann, from its gardens to its beautiful decor.
We’re nervous today because we haven’t seen what the finished show looks like. They shot over 800 hours of footage for just 22 minutes of show, so we don’t know what or who will end up in the final cut or left out. We’ll blog more about it tomorrow.
